A friendly reminder to book in for 3 way conferenc

A friendly reminder to book in for 3 way conferences which will be held in weeks 10 & 11. 3 way conferences are held with your child’s teacher, parent/carer and your child present. Conferences are important as it allows parents and carers to discuss their child’s progress, areas of focus, and academic and social goals with their child’s teacher. It is highly recommended to book an interview to set up positive communication between teachers and parents and carers. Please book using the instructions sent via School Bytes - bookings close Monday March 31 2025 at 9am.

For parents and carers that require an interpreter, interpreters will be available on April 2 2025 after school. If you do not feel confident speaking English please book via the link that the school emailed through last week. If you were not sent this information or require help, please contact the school office as soon as possible on 9747 2299 or via email burwood-p.school@det.nsw.edu.au.

The BPS P&C Uniform Shop still urgently needs parent and carer volunteers to help on Tuesday afternoons between 2:45-3:15pm. No experience is necessary and parents and carers from non-English speaking backgrounds are most welcome!

If you can help in any way, please contact Mia our uniform shop manager via email at uniformshop@burwoodpandc.org.au or simply come in person to the shop during opening hours - Tuesdays 2:45-3:30pm and Thursdays 8:45-9:30am.

2025 NEW P&C EXECUTIVE TEAM

Thank you to the parents and carers who were able to attend the 2025 P&C AGM and morning tea yesterday! The P&C elected a new executive team and the new committee members are:

President: Wendy
Vice Presidents: Brian & Michelle
Secretary: Sek-Mun
Treasurer: Jane
Executives: Fei, Judy, Lucy and Yeyi

We would like to thank the previous committee members for all their hard work and support in 2024! If you couldn’t make the AGM but would still like to join the P&C team please get in touch as we have 2 executive vacancies.

We always appreciate community input so if you have any questions, suggestions or want to get involved we would love to hear from you. Please get in touch at hello@burwoodpandc.org.au or attend one of our P&C meetings held on the 3rd Friday of each month at YMCA Burwood. Everyone is welcome including younger siblings!

Here are some common P&C myths busted!

💬I can’t commit to helping
💡Joining the P&C doesn’t mean you need to attend every meeting or help at every event we hold! You can help for as long or as little as you are able to. While we have some parents and carers that are able to help regularly, there are many that help us on an ad hoc basis.
We appreciate help in all formats and there are so many things that help us run the P&C.

💬My child has only just started at BPS - you must have enough members already
💡We are always in need of new members! The more the merrier and it’s a great way to meet other parents and carers and make new friends.

❔English isn’t my first language. How would I be able to help?
💡There is no need to know English as the BPS P&Cs focus is on building community and that can be done in any language! We also have P&C executives and members that speak Mandarin, Cantonese, Korean and Vietnamese who are more than happy to help translate when needed.

❔What skills do I need to help?
💡No experience or special skills are required! Our parent and carer volunteers come from all ages and backgrounds and bring so many unique skills to help the P&C and our school community. Here are just some of the things our volunteers do:

-cover new library books
-translate our social media posts and event posters
-print and laminate event information
-organise and help with P&C events
-help at the uniform shop
-write grant proposals
-be a parent representative on school panels
-coordinate our P&C Social Club
-scoop gelato and everything in between!

We hope this helps to bust some of the myths that surround getting involved in the BPS P&C. We would love new members and we hope to see you tomorrow at 9am for our Morning Tea and 2025 AGM!

We have new uniform items at the Uniform Shop! We have new formal pants and shorts which are a great alternative to our casual options. The pleated pants have a press stud and zip fly with 2 side pockets plus back pocket while the pleated shorts have 2 side pockets and a comfy elastic back waist.

Head to our online shop to purchase now or see them in person on Tuesday afternoons from 2:45-3:30pm or Thursdays 8:45-9:30am at the Uniform Shop.

Have you been wondering what P&Cs do and what the functions of each of the P&C roles are? Why should you consider joining? Here’s some information that we hope will help!

Our AGM is held in March each year and all executive positions are vacated at the meeting. If you’ve considered being a part of the BPS P&C now is the right time to join! Help make decisions and have your say to improve our wonderful school. Yearly membership is only $2 and it allows you to vote on P&C matters and join the executive team.

P&C meetings are held monthly and attending is a great way to keep updated with what’s happening at school, connect with other parents and carers and learn about upcoming events. BPS P&C UNIFORM SHOP OPENING HOURS 2025

We have NEW opening hours this year for the BPS P&C Uniform Shop! Our opening hours for 2025 are:

Tuesday afternoons from 2:45-3:30pm &
Thursday mornings from 8:45-9:30am

We are open during school terms for in person shopping and online order pickup with card and cash facilities available. To shop online head to our online store - https://burwoodpandc.org.au/uniform-shop. Orders placed online can skip the queue!

The shop is run by P&C volunteers and all proceeds of sales go to the school to assist in funding initiatives, facilities and equipment to promote the recreation and welfare of all Burwood Public School students.

New volunteers are always welcome! If you would like to volunteer or have any questions, please get in touch with the Uniform Shop Manager by emailing uniformshop@burwoodpandc.org.au.

Welcome back to school for 2025! The P&C hope everyone has had a restful break and is excited for another year at our wonderful school. We would especially like to welcome all the new Kindy families to the Burwood Public School community!

The BPS P&C uniform shop will be opening extra hours this week for all your back to school uniform needs! We will be open:

Thursday 6 February 2025
8:45am - 9:30am & 2:45pm - 3:30pm

Friday 7 February 2025
8:45am - 9:30am & 2:45pm - 3:30pm

Normal uniform shop opening hours will resume from week 2. We anticipate that the shop will be very busy for the first few weeks of term so we highly recommend pre-ordering uniforms online to save time as online order pickups can skip the queue.
